Radar Technology Empowering Low-Altitude Transportation

Mr. Jiang pointed out that, compared with traditional ground transportation, low-altitude traffic perception faces unique challenges characterized by: “Low altitude, small targets, high speed, and long-range detection.” The low-altitude environment is highly complex, with factors including:

  • Low flight altitudes

  • Diverse target types

  • Complex airspace conditions

  • Strong environmental interference

The combination of these challenges creates significant technical barriers for the development of low-altitude traffic perception systems. His insights received strong recognition from industry experts and generated extensive discussion among attendees.

Phased Array Radar: A Key Technology for Low-Altitude Surveillance

Mr. Jiang further explained that among current surveillance technologies, phased array radar has become one of the most important technologies for modern low-altitude monitoring systems due to its advantages in:

  • Efficient target detection

  • Real-time response

  • Strong anti-interference capability

  • Accurate multi-target tracking

He introduced HURYS' latest Continuous Wave (CW) Digital Beamforming (DBF) Phased Array Radar, developed over the past two years. Compared with conventional pulse radar systems, HURYS' continuous-wave phased array radar features:

  • Lower transmit power

  • Lighter antenna structure

  • Higher detection accuracy

At this conference, HURYS officially unveiled its latest innovation: Low-Altitude Surveillance Radar The radar adopts a Digital Beamforming (DBF) architecture with elevation beam control, featuring:

  • 360° mechanical azimuth scanning

  • 2-second data update cycle

  • 50° large elevation coverage

  • 5–15 km detection range

  • High-precision target detection
