HURYS Radar Technology Featured on CCTV's Focus Talk for Supporting China's Smart Infrastructure Initiative
In August 2022, HURYS' intelligent traffic radar technology was featured in Focus Talk, one of CCTV's flagship current affairs programs. As part of the special series "New Infrastructure, New Life," the program explored how emerging technologies—including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data—are transforming urban management and accelerating the development of smart cities across China.
Through interviews with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau, the program demonstrated how real-time sensing technologies are enabling city authorities to better understand traffic conditions, make faster decisions, and improve urban mobility.
As a provider of advanced traffic radar solutions, HURYS delivers high-precision, real-time traffic data that serves as a critical foundation for intelligent traffic management and modern transportation systems.
Enabling Smarter Traffic Signal Control in Beijing
During the program, officers from the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau introduced the deployment of intelligent traffic signal control technologies at Caishikou, one of Beijing's busiest intersections.
Although traffic volumes during peak hours are exceptionally high, adaptive traffic signal control enables vehicles to pass through the intersection more efficiently during normal traffic conditions. The key to this improvement lies in radar detectors installed alongside traffic signals, which continuously monitor vehicle flow, queue length, and traffic demand in real time.
Based on these live traffic conditions, signal timing is automatically optimized to allocate green time where it is needed most, maximizing intersection capacity while minimizing unnecessary delays.
The program also highlighted Beijing's expanding green wave corridor system, now deployed along more than 90 arterial roads across the city. On corridors such as Beichen East Road, HURYS radar detectors continuously collect traffic data at every intersection and transmit it to the city's centralized traffic management platform. Using real-time analytics, the signal control system dynamically adjusts coordination parameters between adjacent intersections, maintaining synchronized traffic flow and providing a smoother driving experience throughout the corridor.
Supporting Beijing's Smart Traffic Infrastructure
These advancements are part of the 2021 Beijing Traffic Signal Equipment Procurement Project, launched by the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau to enhance the intelligence and operational efficiency of the city's traffic signal control system.
HURYS was honored to participate in this landmark project by deploying advanced radar sensing equipment across the road network and implementing a radar-based traffic micro-data platform within the city's traffic management center.
Together, these technologies form an integrated Radar-Based Traffic Health Monitoring System, providing accurate real-time traffic data—including vehicle flow, queue length, and other key operational indicators—to support adaptive signal control.
Beyond real-time sensing, the platform leverages advanced data analytics to deliver digital intersection simulation, performance evaluation, congestion spillback detection, and intelligent traffic monitoring, enabling transportation authorities to make faster and more informed operational decisions.
Driving the Future of Smart Cities
Modern digital infrastructure is becoming an essential foundation for the future of intelligent transportation and smart cities.
By combining high-precision radar sensing with intelligent data analytics, HURYS helps transportation authorities maximize the value of existing infrastructure while minimizing deployment costs and resource consumption. The company's integrated solutions enhance traffic efficiency, strengthen urban management capabilities, and improve the overall quality of public services.
Looking ahead, HURYS will continue advancing radar sensing technologies and intelligent transportation solutions, empowering cities with more efficient, data-driven traffic management systems while creating safer, smoother, and more sustainable mobility experiences for communities around the world.
